Choosing Notebooks for Efficiency and Productivity

Overview Notebooks have been traditionally associated with mobile employees, such as business travelers and telecommuters. This document by IDC describes that this working style is being reinforced by the growing prevalence of wireless LANs (WLANs) that allow employees to log in anywhere within the wireless coverage area. Meanwhile, notebooks are being made more attractive with thinner and lighter designs and by new technologies, such as improved batteries, screens, hard drives, and other components. But perhaps the most important feature of the current generation is built-in wireless cards, which are quickly becoming ubiquitous, allowing users to log into WLANs in the office and on the road.
