Overview Customers have been increasingly demanding high availability for their IT applications. Cost is the primary consideration for customers when these applications break down. The overall availability of an IT system and the applications running on it is the product of the individual partial availabilities. The topic of high-availability applications will be discussed in detail in this paper. The discussion will focus on the individual sub areas and the measures for increasing the availability of these sub areas. On the basis of the openUTM middleware product, paper will demonstrate how high-availability mission critical applications can be achieved and operated.
