Directory Services White Papers

Integrating your Active Directory Namespace into an Existing DNS Infrastructure with Name Overlap

Overview This paper shows how to use Windows 2000 Domain Name System (DNS) to support the Active Directory directory service when a DNS server that does not support Service (SRV) resource records is authoritative for the company's DNS name, and users want to name the Active Directory forest with the same name as their DNS name. A DNS server that does not support SRV records cannot support Active Directory by itself.
