SkyQuery Maps the Sky by Linking Astronomical Databases Through Web Services

Overview Astronomy information is growing at an exponential rate, with data approximately doubling each year. This data avalanche results from the increasing sophistication of both astronomical instruments and computer simulations, a trend that is happening in all modern sciences. Microsoft Research and researchers at John Hopkins University team up to create a web service allowing geographically dispersed data to be efficiently and conveniently accessed.
