Development Speed Increases 25 Percent with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and ASP.NET

Overview Lance Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of snack foods, saw development speed increase by 25 percent after it moved to Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework, from Visual Basic version 6.0 and Active Server Pages (ASP) server-side scripting technology. The company is also seeing a productivity boost as it moves developers from using RPG, which was used to create AS/400 applications, to Visual Studio .NET. Lance developers have found that Visual Studio .NET makes it easier to prototype applications and to quickly alter code to meet customer needs. The result has been a closer working relationship between Lance developers and their internal customers - which has enhanced customer satisfaction.
