BGI Enhances End User Productivity Using the Secure Reduced Sign-on Capability of the Windows 2000 Active Directory Service
Overview A business value analysis based on the Rapid Economic Justification framework, assessed by Gartner Measurement, confirmed that by using Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory service Barclays Global Investors could consolidate its IT assets and centralize authentication and security administration. Active Directory provided industry-standard Kerberos and PKI for secure cross-platform reduced sign-on authentication, and programming interfaces to speed the deployment of new solutions. The Directory and Resource Administrator tool from NetIQ provided single-point data management for increased system administrator efficiency. With more efficient and secure logon, BGI can now bring products to market more quickly and focus on developing new online services. Based on actual costs and user experience, BGI experienced an investment payback period of 8 months.
