Hannaford Bros. Co. Questions Status Quo, Gains Better Storage Solution

Overview Hannaford Bros. Co. (Hannaford) needed to support rapid, heavy increase in storage requirements for grocery retailer’s business-critical retail data, ensure continuous application availability in a centralized mainframe environment and enable non-disruptive storage maintenance. Hannaford deployed IBM Global Services Migration Services for moving data from an EMC Symmetrix 5700 system to IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server. By migrating to the Enterprise Storage Server, Hannaford is also benefiting from innovative features, such as Parallel Access Volumes, which improve application performance by allowing multiple, I/Os from the S/390 servers to access the same volumes on the disk concurrently.
