Compact IBM eServer xSeries 330 Eases Overcrowding in School District’s Data Center

Overview As the largest school system in the state of Tennessee and the twentieth largest metropolitan school system in the nation Memphis City Schools is no stranger to the challenges and benefits afforded by information technology (IT). The district had just completed the installation of a high-speed ATM wide area network, and to ease management of the district’s IT systems, it decided to consolidate 165 servers running in the individual schools into one central data center. The district decided to use the IBM eServer xSeries 330 (x330) in addition to an array of existing IBM Netfinity servers - to run its new system.
