Using iSCSI Volumes for Boot Services in a Blade Server Environment

Overview One of the major challenges in a blade server environment is storage. With limited local hard disk capacity (and frequently no storage ports), most blade servers must employ file services on the network. This paper provides an overview of booting Windows 2000 servers with no internal disks using external iSCSI disks provided over a Gigabit Ethernet network. Furthermore, it explains how to use iSCSI logical volumes on a Storage Concentrator IP SAN to provide storage volumes for blade servers.
