Building a High-performance Computing Infrastructure with Sun Fire Servers and Storage
Overview University of Houston wanted to deliver the computational power to run high-performance computing applications for scientific research, enable participation in the Texas grid system and efficiently manage large files and share data campus-wide. That’s when the University entrusted its HPC infrastructure to Sun, porting its environment to a Sun StorEdge Open SAN architecture built on Sun Fire servers. The servers are clustered with high-speed Myrinet switches from Myricom, Inc. With a high-performance computing solution based on Sun Fire Servers and Sun StorEdge software, the University of Houston is poised to advance scientific research, efficiently and cost-effectively.
