Inline Power Supply Options for the Catalyst 4500 Series Switch
Overview When the first Catalyst 4000 Series Switch, the Catalyst 4003 Switch, became available, inline power was a technology that was just starting to be developed. Two years later, the Cisco Catalyst 4006 Switch became available and with it, an option to provide inline power. The Catalyst 4006 inline power option was designed to provide as much hardware re-use and compatibility with the Catalyst 4003 chassis as possible. With the introduction of the Catalyst 4500 Series Switch, a new power supply configuration has further refined the Catalyst 4000 inline power capability, providing a completely integrated inline power solution.
