Cisco SN 5428-2 Performance Using FCIP

Overview Cisco Systems has internally tested and benchmarked the Cisco SN 5428-2 Storage Router when configured for a channel extension application using the FCIP feature available with the product. The goal of this testing was to measure the effective throughput between the storage routers in both a WAN and a LAN environment. The results of this testing have shown that when an FCIP channel is introduced into in a SAN environment using Cisco SN5428-2 storage routers, latency delays introduced because of long WAN distances between the SN 5428-2 storage routers did not have an appreciable effect on overall performance of the SAN using an OC-3 channel when the TCP window size was set to 2 MB.
