Cisco Network Volume Manager

Overview This paper evaluates the scalability characteristics of VERITAS Storage Foundation for Networks (VSFN) running on a Cisco MDS 9000 Advanced Services Module (ASM), as it now has the charter of performing multiple hosts' volume management. The VSFN also has to cater to different applications and its I/O size and rate. It is critical for the enterprise to select the VSFN based on its rated Input/Output Operations per Second (IOPS) and throughput numbers. The essential characteristics of such a device will be its ability to perform optimally during peak bursts of I/O, as well as during sustained I/O loads.
