Cisco Multiservice over SONET/SDH Product Migration and Strategy
Overview This paper reviews the current Ethernet product offerings for the Cisco ONS 15454 multi-service provisioning platforms (MSPPs) and then discusses how they can be applied to deliver scalable, high-speed, reliable data services today. Three real-world service applications (EPL, VPN service, and Internet access) are defined to help reiterate the features, benefits, functions, and applications of the Cisco ONS 15454 Ethernet product portfolio. Cisco's MSOS product migration plan is outlined through the course of this paper, showing how the service provider network infrastructure can be evolved and continuously streamlined as Cisco continues to innovate within the metropolitan (metro) optical Ethernet space.

Performance Considerations for Network Switch Fabrics on Linux Clusters
In this paper the authors investigate the necessity of a high speed interconnect for Linux based clusters and the performance differences between Myrinet and Ethernet connected networks. The authors benchmark...
A Comparison of MPICH Allgather Algorithms on Switched Networks
The study discussed in this paper evaluates the performance of MPI_Allgather() in MPICH 1.2.5 on a Linux cluster. This implementation of MPICH improves on the performance of allgather compared to...
Ethernet Over SONET GFP, VCAT and LCAS
Enterprise networks are demanding Ethernet services to their Service Providers. In a time when capital is constrained, Service Providers want to use their present SONET/SDH infrastructure to transport Ethernet in...
TIA-942 Data Center Networking Applications: 10 Gigabit Ethernet Over Twisted-Pair Copper
In parallel and subsequent to the development of TIA-942, the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet working group published two twisted-pair copper standards, 1000 Mb/s Ethernet designated 1000BASE-T and 10 Gb/s Ethernet (10...
Receive Side Coalescing for Accelerating TCP/IP Processing
With rapid advancements in Ethernet technology, Ethernet speeds have increased by 10 fold, from 1 to 10Gbps, in a period of 2-3 years. This sudden increase in speeds has outpaced...
