Application Scale-out with the Dell PowerEdge 6650: Clustered Enterprise Database
Overview To demonstrate the benefits of scale-out over scale-up, a two-node cluster consisting of two Dell PowerEdge 6650 servers, each with four Intel Xeon Processors MP (running at 2.0 GHz with 2 MB L3 cache), was compared to a Hewlett-Packard ProLiant DL740 with eight processors of the same type. It was found that the Dell cluster could handle 73% more orders per minute as well as complete the reports 8% more quickly than the HP server.
