Security Best Practices for the California Breach Law (Senate Bill No.1386)

Overview Safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of customer information is no longer just a best practice for organizations that have customers who live in California. It's a legal requirement. Senate Bill No.1386 mandates that all state entities, people or businesses that conduct business or have customers who live in California notify their customers of any breach of security to their records. In order to streamline security and help achieve security best practices, ISS has developed a five-step process covering the complete security management lifecycle, including phases for Assessment, Design, Deployment, Management and Education (ADDME) which is explained in this paper.
