Acoustic Echo Control in Wireless Networks

Overview This document discusses the nature of acoustic echo in wireless communications and presents methods for properly controlling it. The properties of acoustic echo and electrical echo (hybrid echo) are analyzed to explain why different techniques are needed to control and eliminate each type of signal degradation. This document includes commentaries regarding the implementation methodologies being practiced by several echo canceller product vendors, and deduces why some echo cancellers either miss the objective entirely or are lacking key elements for delivering an adequate solution.
