J-Phone Selects Ericsson as the Prime Integrator for Its Multi-Vendor 3G Network in Japan
Overview Serving around 12 million subscribers, J-Phone is a major telecoms player in Japan and a serious rival to the country’s other operators DoCoMo, KDDI, and TU-KA. With such a high reputation, J-Phone’s decision to expand its network into 3G services meant there was much at stake. To add to the pressure, the time schedule for integration was extremely tight. In addition all eyes in the telecoms world were watching - Japan is a major market for 3G - and 3G is also Eriksson’s key to the future.
