Overview The Palm Handhelds connected organizer is the most successful hand-held computer on the market to date. The independent market research firm Creative Strategies reports over 1.65 million units were sold during its first 18 months on the market. This exceeds the adoption rate of television, telephones, cellular phones and even PCs. Since bar code reading is the most effective form of accurate data acquisition, it was only a matter of time before bar code-scanning technologies were integrated into the small form factor provided by the Palm OS Platform from Palm, Inc.
