Marathon Oil Company Improves Efficiency and Asset Management, Reduces TCO

Overview Marathon Oil Company, a leading U.S. oil and gas company, was challenged by the difficult task of ensuring that software, patches, and updates were distributed quickly and efficiently. After considering other solutions that cost much more but delivered no added value, Marathon chose to implement Microsoft Systems Management Server 2.0 and, more recently, to upgrade to Systems Management Server 2003. The company expects that decision to lower its total cost of ownership (TCO) by allowing it to retire several servers and avoid investing in new hardware. This solution also provides Marathon with improved asset management, significantly faster deployment, and high dependability and reliability.
