Auto Insurance Specialists Get the Picture with Tablet PCs
Overview Auto Insurance Specialists wanted to explore how technology could streamline workflow while reducing operating expenses. Auto Insurance Specialists (AIS), is piloting deployment of Tablet PCs powered by Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. AIS customer service staff are using Tablet PCs integrated with a digital camera and loaded with ink-enabled forms which allow photographs to be taken, reviewed, annotated and printed, as required in the insurance application process. Additionally, several AIS executives are replacing their notebook PCs with powerful Tablet PCs to take advantage of pen-based computing, which makes operation convenient whether in office, in meetings or traveling. While the pilot has yielded efficiencies in process and workflow, AIS estimates that the company could save several hundred thousand dollars annually in film expenses alone.
