ProQuest Computersysteme GmbH - Doing More Work with Fewer Resources

Overview A growing company with offices spread across three locations in Germany and five locations internationally, proQuest offers a variety of software and services, and develops software according to their customer requirements. Developers are equipped with laptops running SuSE Linux and Microsoft Windows systems. Until recently, developers were using a variety of different software applications for managing project-related activities and costs. Managers could not aggregate project data, or look at activities and costs company-wide. This was essential to proQuest, which was growing and moving to fixed-budget projects. In an effort to manage projects and control costs consistently, proQuest looked for a solution that would track and manage custom development projects. They needed to consolidate project records in order to reduce redundancies in data entry. In 2000, proQuest had installed Lotus Domino for Linux for messaging and collaboration, running on the same SuSE Linux servers which proQuest was also using for software development.
