Phonepages Taps into Mobile Market with IBM Data Management Software

Overview Until now, there hasn’t been a simple way to incorporate interactive graphical display onto a mobile phone screen. But the PhonePages of Sweden AB (PhonePages) is ready to bring new convenience to wireless users, with an innovative solution called phonepages that displays customized Internet content on Web-enabled mobile phones. Founded in 2000, the 14-employee company has offices in Stockholm and Goteborg, Sweden, and more than 500 patent claims in the United States and Europe for its phonepages offering. The phonepages solution was developed with proprietary technology and runs on the Linux operating environment. Since the solution must be capable of managing a high volume of dynamic multimedia content, PhonePages needed a robust, scalable database that could manage and support fast access to data, including audio and video clips as well as images. Seeing the advantage of aligning with an established leader, the young company looked to IBM and IBM DB2 Universal Database Workgroup Edition for Linux.
