Cosworth Racing Moves into Pole Position with Advanced IBM Cluster for Linux

Overview Cosworth Racing is a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of high performance gasoline engines. When Cosworth Racing found that its existing UNIX workstations could no longer manage the growing volume of computations within the necessary timescales, it looked for a more powerful solution. After reviewing the offerings of various vendors, Cosworth Racing selected an eight-node IBM eServer Cluster 1350 running Red Hat Linux. The IBM cluster enables Cosworth Racing to tackle simulation tasks that would not have been feasible on its UNIX workstations. This means that Cosworth Racing will be able to handle more complex simulation tasks within the same short timescales as before.
