Fairmont Hotels & Resorts: Exchange 2000 Server, Outlook Web Access, and Service Provider Licensing Model Reduce Cost of Worldwide Messaging
Overview Fairmont Hotels & Resorts (NYSE:FHR) is North America's largest luxury hotel management company. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts had been using Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 and Microsoft Outlook to provide messaging services to hotels and hotel employees throughout the chain. Due to Fairmont's tight cost structure, however, the charges to individual hotels for the software, infrastructure, security, and support were high enough to limit the extent to which the messaging services could reach all levels of employees. Fairmont's Technology Services department wanted to find a way to reduce costs in order to extend the messaging solution throughout the organization and eliminate the need to upgrade hardware on desktops. Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, Outlook Web Access, and Microsoft's new service provider licensing model provided Fairmont with the solution it needed to reduce costs and expand-and improve-messaging services for employees around the world.
