Synchronization and Locking on HP-UX

Overview When writing kernel code, it is important to use the synchronization primitives properly for two reasons. First, misuse of the synchronization tools and failure to properly protect access to global resources are repeatedly identified as significant causes of serious defects. Secondly, the performance gains promised by a parallel system cannot be realized unless synchronization and locking are used correctly. The purpose of this paper is to outline the kernel synchronization primitives used in HP-UX.
