Liberty Medical: $300 Million Medical Supply Firm Turns to Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2000 64-bit Versions to Accommodate Growth

Overview To prepare for continued rapid growth, Liberty Medical Supply is deploying the 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition and SQL Server 2000 on an Itanium II–based 64-bit server. Application performance on the 64-bit platform is 159 percent greater than on a similarly configured 32-bit server—more than enough processing power to support increased sales growth and new business initiatives for the next several years. By scaling up to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (64-bit) running on the new 64-bit version of Windows, Liberty Medical Supply will realize superior price-performance and the benefits of server consolidation: decreased administrative workload, increased reliability, and better performance for end-user applications.
