Financial Services Provider Saves 48 Percent on Licensing Fees, Reduces Costs

Overview To improve their delivery of fast, accurate data and innovative services in a market characterized by intense competition and complex regulation, Sanford Limited, provider of online financial services, switched from an Oracle installation running on Solaris servers to a custom Microsoft SQL Server solution running on Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system. Implemented and deployed by their in-house staff in just four months, this solution has reduced Sanford's per-transaction cost by nearly 50 percent and realized annual savings of AU$480,000 (US$319,000) in licensing and maintenance fees alone. In addition, Sanford found that the ease of working with Microsoft technology has enabled it to automate data-mining operations, allowing cost-effective, rapid response to both internal requests and requests from wholesale clients.
