QSIG Separation of Bearer and Signaling in Avaya Communication Manager

Overview QSIG is part of the Avaya Communication Manager offer to support enterprise-wide feature-transparent networking. QSIG is also an ISO standard for interoperability between communications platforms provided by disparate vendors. A new QSIG feature - "Separation of Bearer and Signaling" is implemented in Release 1.3 of Communication Manager. This feature enables enterprise-wide virtual networks of Avaya servers over public networks. Out-of-band signaling is provided via Internet Protocol over IP, Frame Relay, or ATM networks. This white paper describes Avaya's implementation of QSIG Separation of Bearer and Signaling, and explains the advantages of both SBS and QSIG in terms of expense reduction, enhanced productivity, reliability and application deployment.
