The Next Generation of Inventory Management
Overview Service providers must maintain accurate records related to their networks. Without a resource management system, carriers must resort to a collection of strategies including email, spreadsheets, and proprietary systems which individually can only give an accurate view for a subset of the network. In this environment, service design and service maintenance is slow, error prone and expensive. Instead, if a carrier can capture network resource data to create an accurate physical and logical representation, and make this data available throughout a service provider's operations system environment, it results in faster revenue recognition, maximised use of capital, increased return on assets, reduced operational cost, and increased customer satisfaction. This alone will not herald in flow-through provisioning, real-time availability to a network's bandwidth, or a carrier's ability to practice asset management. However, gaining control of a network's assets via the use of resource management system is the first step in the right direction.
