Server Consolidation: Examining the Application Consolidation Approach
Overview In most environments, an Intel architecture based server is deployed for each application to eliminate resource contention between applications. Such an environment can be inefficient and costly. Today, enterprises are looking for scalable solutions to optimize their return on investment by not only expanding the availability, reliability, and manageability of their IT infrastructures but also by reducing the costs. Application consolidation describes the effort to improve server utilization by bringing together different applications onto a single server.
