Establishing a Quality Framework for ITIL: An Overview of Six Sigma and its Role in ITIL Service Delivery
Overview It has almost become a cliché of to say that "organizations are now so dependent on IT, they will fail without it". And yet, it's a reality: when critical IT services are not available, the business suffers. As a result, organizations have launched a search for tools and methods that will help them guarantee service. Some organizations have turned to outsourcing employing other people to worry about this problem. Other organizations are over capitalizing on a configuration-using redundancy to eliminate bottlenecks and other performance problems. In recent months, attention has focused on ITIL and the itSMF. ITIL provides a library of "best practices" for IT service management. This paper is intended for ITIL practitioners who are looking for a quality process. Six Sigma also brings to the table a number of other significant opportunities for the ITIL project team and these are also discussed in this paper.
