Overview The issue of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) is at the forefront of every healthcare provider's agenda. For many, it is looming on the horizon like a specter. There is widespread confusion about HIPAA's details and the requirements an organization must satisfy to become "HIPAA compliant." After a careful review of the issue, however, it is really not as bad as it seems. This white paper addresses the sections of HIPAA outlined in the administrative simplification portion of the legislation. It does not address HIPAA portability requirements.
