EDS Helps Organizing Committee Stage Largest Sport and Cultural Event for French-Speaking World
Overview
The Organizing Committee of the IV Games of La Francophonie in Ottawa wanted to be on the right track - using Internet tools, because they had invited 3,000 athletes and artists, 600,000 spectators and 12,000 volunteers, officials and ambassadors from more than 52 French-speaking countries for the largest sport and cultural event ever staged in the worldwide Francophonie community. In addition to its technology expertise, EDS wanted to profile the hottest sport showdown with its sponsorship of the EDS Soccer Tournament, which pits France, the reigning World Cup and European champion, against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, the Sydney Olympic Gold winner. They needed a website to be up and running with information both in English and French. Within three months, EDS created the Web site, developed the system architecture, completed system implementation and provided overall project management.
