World Rally Championship: Driving High Performance in New Media Technologies

Overview International Sportsworld Communicators (ISC), the TV and commercial rights holder of WRC. ISC needed a partner to help it launch a state-of-the-art, branded motorsport web site in time for the start of the WRC 2002 season. More than just a URL address, ISC wanted to supply an unequalled web experience to the rally enthusiast by helping them see and experience. Equally important, ISC wanted to take advantage of technological advances to deliver WRC content and applications via short messaging services (SMS) and mobile devices. Accenture and ISC devised the heart of the new media campaign-a flagship web site to host traffic from each partner. Then Accenture brought in its own Customer Relationship Management specialists and technical architects from Microsoft to ensure that the platform would deliver on its potential. The WRC web site has received rave reviews across the broad spectrum of the WRC family. The volume of users on the WRC web site post-launch has exceeded expectations, serving well over a million pages to an audience measured in the hundreds of thousands during the site’s launch at the Monte Carlo Rally.
