Boston Scientific—Global Systems

Overview Boston Scientific dedicated to minimally invasive therapy-manufactures and markets 14,000 products and employs more than 12,000 people. To ensure long-term effectiveness and profitability, it became apparent that the company and its diverse acquisitions must be woven into a single global business with compatible processes, integrated technologies, a blended culture and a single supply chain. The company engaged Accenture to implement SAP's enterprise-wide system, train the Boston Scientific user community, and manage the SAP implementation on an ongoing basis. After a one-year design and build effort, the Global System solution was rolled out to more than 5,000 users and (in nine months) 13 different legacy systems were retired. Now, it gets benefits such as Lower distribution costs, effective, consistent customer service metrics, improved leverage and control of information technology costs and ability to grow profitably and effectively assimilate new acquisitions.
