Colliers Standardizes Its Infrastructure on Dell Systems

Overview Colliers International is a real estate company comprising a number of groups in Canada and the United States that also provides brokerage and management services. Because Colliers is a multi-national real estate company that also provides brokerage and management services, brokers must access databases about real estate properties and electronically communicate information with customers and databases. As Colliers grew, the IT group decided it did not want to support multiple vendors for its communications infrastructure. It wanted one-stop shopping for its switches and hubs. Colliers was already standardized on Dell desktop systems, servers and notebook computers that used interface cards from Intel and 3Com, as well as Xircom PCMCIA adaptors. Since these systems all were compatible with the Dell networking products - specifically, the PowerConnect 5012 (12 Port Gigabit Ethernet) switches and PowerConnect 3024 (24 Port Fast Ethernet with Gigabit Ethernet uplinks and stacking capabilities) - and because Colliers wanted to deal with a single vendor, Colliers gave Dell a try.
