Secure Key or Clear Key: Application Migration and Crypto Hardware on z990

Overview This document clarifies the difference between ""secure key"" and ""clear key"" as it relates to the crypto support available with the IBM eServer z990. It also includes basic information explaining how the IBM mainframe crypto features (occasionally referred to as crypto engines) get requests to perform cryptographic functions. This document also contains information to assist in determining whether a crypto application can be migrated to the z990 in 2003 with the cryptographic features available at the June 2003 general availability.
