GuinnessWorldRecords.com Launches in Record Time with Dell and Microsoft

Overview Guinness World Records is one of the world's most-recognized brands. Its Guinness Book of World Records has been in print for more than 50 years and has sold more than 90 million copies, making it the most-read book in the world after the Bible and the Koran. To extend Guinness' global reach, its parent company - Diageo PLC, a London-based conglomerate that also owns other famous brands such as Smirnoff, Pillsbury, and Burger King - wanted to bolster Guinness' traditional book and television operations with an online presence. The Guinness management team decided to switch from a Sun strategy to Dell servers and Microsoft Web platform approach. The Guinness World Records site has been up since October 2000 and is receiving 6 million page impressions per month, or approximately 400,000 visitors a month.
