Smart Cards White Papers

Abstracts for the DIGIPASS Pro 800 Desk 850

Overview Current buyers of tokens from the Digipass family are looking over the fence to see what is happening in the chip card arena. This is particularly true in the banking world where those responsible for electronic payments have introduced chips on their payment cards for debit/credit payments or electronic wallets. The conclusion of management is that introduction of tokens and smart cards have led to similar logistics channels. Indeed, both tokens and smart cards have to be personalized with secrets, and PIN mailers have to be sent. There is a distribution of the physical unit and backup systems have to be put in place. If a customer locks his token or smart card, a helpdesk is required and, of course, a server system has to be installed to accept incoming transactions. Therefore, today there is an undeniable demand to use the existing smart cards to do remote banking and authentication as well.
