CrystalSec: Alcatel Information Security Framework

Overview Alcatel has developed a security framework and architecture for its networking products - the OmniSwitch and OmniPCX product families. Because security has become a key element in most network designs, it is essential that the products Alcatel builds are conceived with strong security in mind. Good security is security-in-depth, that is,-a breech in one area will not compromise the entire network. Security-in-depth is implemented by creating multiple layers of defense around important assets. This is achieved by ensuring that products are hardened against attack, implement a security-by-default configuration profile, regulate and provision administrative controls, offer value-added security services to end users, and leverage partner security technologies to protect against predefined threats. Referred to as CrystalSec, the Alcatel information security framework is a design philosophy. Products that are certified according to this framework help to reassure Alcatel's established and prospective customers that security is a fundamental design element of all enterprise products, not merely an afterthought.
