Overview This total cost of ownership (TCO) study evaluates the cause and affect associated with data storage consolidation efforts in Microsoft Windows operating environments by comparing and compares user-reported experience with Network Appliance NAS solutions and Compaq SAN solutions.

The data storage consolidations trend is the result of strong enterprise TCO requirements consisting of cost-saving performance enhancements via one-to-one server exchanges and upgrades and cost-cutting hardware and software reductions. Product-related expenses, staff utilization, data availability, and incidence of downtime factored into overall user costs.
