Enhancing Product Configuration and Data Management at EMS
Overview EMS Technologies, Inc. is a leading provider of wireless, satellite and broadband communications products and solutions. With data shared across a range of different applications including Office, Pro/E, AutoCAD, Mentor, Cadkey and Framemaker, EMS needed to ensure that it continued to optimize its Product Lifecycle Management functionality. After one year of evaluation and migration testing, evaluating all the various needs from Finance, Purchasing, Production Control, Manufacturing and Configuration Management, EMS selected the iBaan for Product Lifecycle Management (iBaan for PLM) solution from Baan. Roll-out commenced in June 1999. Unlike the previous environment, all released documents can be archived within the one centralized system and the can view the history of all newly-released documents from their desktops. Created drawings no longer have a hard copy, supporting their move towards less paper, many native formats are kept in the PLM system and some software executables are also stored in iBaan ? resulting in a significant reduction in diskette/CD-ROM storage requirements.
