Producing three minutes of CG animation with an all-volunteer crew, distributed around the world, in a virtual studio had some challenges. They needed top performance, highly reliable workstation computing for 3D modeling, animation, and rendering, explained. In the summer of '99, The Better MouseTrap Company acquired eight HP Workstation Visualize X550s running Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0, to host AliasWavefront Maya 3.0, Nothing Real Shake 2.40, Adobe Photoshop 5.5, and Adobe Premiere 5.1 for animation production.
