When HP made its official announcement about the retirement of the HP e3000 in November 2001, Summit Information Systems, a unit of Fiserv, Inc., responded by immediately sending its customers a letter to explain exactly what impact HP's announcement entailed.When Summit initially embarked on the porting project, it determined early on it wanted to maintain the relationship with HP.
