Overview This paper outlines Marconi's approach to helping service providers leverage existing infrastructures to offer new Ethernet services over ATM or MPLS. Ethernet-over-ATM offers a way for service providers to increase revenues by enabling customized service level agreements (SLAs) on a per-customer or per-application basis through support of end-to-end QoS for high-margin, value-added Ethernet services. Ethernet-over-MPLS not only gives service providers all the advantages of Ethernet-over-ATM, it also provides easy provisioning, flexibility, and network simplification.
