Cisco Internet OSS Helps SaskTel Deliver MPLS-Based VPN Service
Overview As the leading full-service communications company in Saskatchewan, SaskTel offers complete wireline, wireless, Internet, and e-business solutions to its 450,000 business and residential customers. Until recently, most SaskTel business customers used Frame Relay for network access. The SaskTel network carried all IP traffic over ATM circuits to its network operations center (NOC) in Regina. SaskTel realized that an Internet-based OSS would be critical to the success of their services. SaskTel decided to continue using traditional processes and procedures for Layer 2, and to use the Cisco VPN Solution Center to provision the Layer 3 portion of the network. Cisco VPN Solution Center enables SaskTel to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy and manage its MPLS-based VPNs, using a Web-based interface to select options such as access speed and class of service (CoS).
