High Performance Auditing of Data Activity on your Enterprise SQL Servers - It is possible!

Overview Government regulations on privacy and security requirements (e.g. HIPAA), along with enterprise data protection requirements, are driving the need for DBAs and IT managers to know "who did what to which data when." This translates into an IT requirement for a complete audit trail of data and database activity. Traditional techniques that use database triggers or rely on application modification can be costly to deploy and adversely affect performance. This presentation focuses on the tactical issues in successfully auditing activity on your SQL Server databases, including capturing relevant activity, analyzing data access, verifying and investigating behavior, producing reports, and reacting quickly to unauthorized behavior. We discuss how to accomplish these aims utilizing Lumigent Entegra, demonstrating how various types of activity can be audited, including data modifications, data viewing, and schema and permission changes. Samples of useful audit reports will also be presented.
