Performance Tuning Guide for Oracle 9i Backup Using hp StorageWorks Ultrium 460 Tape Drive
Overview This white paper focuses on using the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 460 tape drive in the highly demanding Oracle 9i environment, running under the HP-UX 11.11 operating system and using HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 5.0. On a fairly modest equipment set-up, online backup speeds of 168GB/Hr were achieved. The white paper also focuses on the necessary steps in Oracle itself and HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 5.0 that are necessary to performance tune the backup.
