Storage Management White Papers

Using SYMCLI to Measure Volume Changes with Change Tracker

Overview This white paper describes using EMC Symmetrix Change Tracker software in an open systems environment to measure changes to data on a Symmetrix volume or group of volumes (volume changes). Change Tracker software is implemented through the symchg command of the Symmetrix Command Line Interface (SYMCLI) and uses the DeltaMark facility to identify logical blocks that have been changed on a Symmetrix device. Changer Tracker software is often used as a planning tool in the analysis and design of configurations that use the EMC TimeFinder and Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF) components to store data at remote sites.
